At Lecce, Dorgu was occasionally used as a wide forward, scoring five goals in 57 appearances. So far at Man Utd, his attacking contributions have been minimal. He only has two assists to his name in 31 appearances.
Denmark boss Riemer: Dorgu ‘has everything’
Dorgu started for Denmark in the absence of the more experienced Joakim Maehle in their disappointing 2-2 draw with Belarus at the weekend, and national team boss Brian Riemer is a big fan of the 21-year-old.
Speaking ahead of the game, Riemer said of Dorgu: “He has everything. He has a physique that can’t be better. He runs crazy fast, you can’t push him away, and he’s aggressive in his game. He has the whole package.
“But he is a young man who, compared to Joakim Maehle, has not been in as many crucial situations, and he is naturally building up that experience at the moment.
“Now Dorgu gets the chance. He is a different type, and offensively, he is a fantastic player to have at left back. He still has areas for development, both he and we know that, but he is also still young.
“He is completely ready to play these international matches, because he plays matches almost every week for Manchester United, where he meets the best players in the world. So I have no doubt that he is ready.
“He has to show that he can turn the promising moves into some good performances for the national team, and I’m looking forward to seeing that. No one doubts Patrick Dorgu’s qualities. He has deserved more game time than I have given him, to be completely honest.”
